Din975 Nuts and bolts share the same chemistry as salt and pepper. Nuts are hardware fasteners with threaded holes. Common types of nuts and bolts include barrels, cap nuts, cage, coupling, crushed, cross dowel, inserts, internal wrenching, knurled nuts, lugs, panels, plates, flange, Hex Nuts, plate nuts, split nuts, weld nuts, staked, swage nuts, self-aligning nuts, Carriage Bolts. They can be used for various applications. Mostly made from low or medium carbon steel, with minimum tensile yield strength of 420 MPa or 61 ksi, nuts and bolts are ranked mostly in classes between 5 to 10.
Nuts are oftentimes hexagonal in shape. Hex nuts are the most common types and are used in many general-purpose products. This fastener has a threaded hole in the center. Washers, on the other hand, are simpler types of fasteners. They are usually flat and are available in different shapes and sizes. Similar to nuts, they function by fastening screws and acting as spacers. Steel and plastic washers are the most used types. Steel types help prevent deterioration of two joint metal objects due to electrical contact. Plastic washers are common in valves and faucets.

Hex nuts are mostly made from materials like brass, zinc plates, steel grade 8, stainless steel, silicon bronze, hot dipped galvanized and grade 2 chrome. Hot dipped galvanized and grade 2 chrome are most popular hex nuts because of being corrosion resistant. They are thick and are used mostly for exteriors and coastal areas. Whereas, the grade 2 chrome has a bright mirror like finish providing sharp looks for a variety of applications.
